National Gallery Collectors COSMOS & Rembrandt in Amsterdam

On July 16th, the exhibition of the Meakins-McClaran Print Collection will open at the National Gallery of Canada.

The University Club is pleased to preview the exhibition, with a discussion by Dr. Meakins and expert Dr. Erika Dolphin, Interim Senior Curator of Prints and Drawings.

Dr. Meakins will outline the pathway to the formation of a collection and in particular the transformation of an accumulation of prints into two distinct collections. You will discover how the collectors' view of their collection can be transformed by a curator with an interest in the specific period of the collection, late 16th and 17th centuries.

Dr. Dolphin has done just this and brings an enlightened interpretation to the assembly of works integrating some of the collector's material in other eras to make a coherent whole.
