Event Details

The University Club of Montreal invites you to a private guided tour, and presentation of the Designed by Women project, an initiative of The Stewart Program for Modern Design. The world of industrial design has historically been the purview of men, and the world of objects for the home has seemingly been divided into male creators and female consumers.

The Designed by Women project encourages a deeper understanding of women's contributions to design, and leading voices in the design community challenge our assumptions about design. Developed by the Stewart Program for Modern Design in collaboration with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Designed by Women explores the work of women across the globe, from 1900 to the present.

Your hosts, the Stewart Program's Curator, David A. Hanks and Registrar, Angéline Dazé, will present works from the Stewart Collection, designed by women from across the globe. We will learn how the project encourages a deeper understanding of women's contribution to design and view an acclaimed collection which was formed under the leadership of visionary philanthropist Liliane Stewart.

Cocktails, canapés and of course, wonderful company will follow at the Club!
