The Forget House
On the corner of Sherbrooke Street West and Drummond is the last, intact, turn-of-the-century Square Mile block, and a magnificent example of life in Montreal more than 100 years ago. Next door to the University Club, now housed in the Reid-Wilson House, is the elegant home of Senator Louis-Joseph Forget.
On the 16th of November, the University Club will be giving a private tour of the mansion guided by Mtre Daniel Boyer and Mr. Bruce Bolton. Learn about the house's construction, patrimonial and historical value, as well as the prominent figures that have walked through its front door. Discover the people behind the house's preservation and its affiliation with other organizations such as the Macdonald Stewart Foundation (MSF). David and Liliane Stewart of the MSF shared a passion for preserving Montreal's built history, making the foundation's fellowship with the Forget House a natural one.
The tour of this unique architectural emblem offers a glimpse into Montreal's 19th-century Golden Square Mile where the prosperity of Canada was built over a century ago!
