Erika received her PhD on 16th-century Spanish art from the Institute of Fine Arts (NYU), and has been at the National Gallery of Canada since 2002. She has her feet solidly planted in the worlds of both European paintings and works on paper, and has curated a wide variety of exhibitions, including Baroque Masterworks from the National Gallery of Canada (2006), Central European Drawings from the National Gallery of Canada (2010), and Masterpiece in Focus: The White Dress (2016). In addition, she contributed to the major retrospective, Gustave Doré (1832–1883): Master of Imagination (2014), and was the organizing curator for Impressionist Treasures: The Ordrupgaard Collection (2018). She is currently the curator of The Collectors’ Cosmos: The Meakins-McClaran Print Collection (25 June – 14 November 2021) and an organizing curator for Rembrandt in Amsterdam: Creativity and Competition (14 May – 6 September 2021).

Jonathan L. Meakins OC, MD, D.Sc. served as Head of Surgery at the McGill University Health Centre and Chair of the Department of Surgery at McGill until 2002, when he was appointed as The Nuffield Professor of Surgery and Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Oxford. Dr. Meakins also served as a member of The Acquisition Committee at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and as a trustee from 1994 until 2002, and became an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000. Presently, Dr. Meakins serves as the Director of the Art and Heritage Centre of the McGill University Health Centre, focussing on the creation of a Healing Environment.
Dr. Meakins has been collecting prints since 1982. Within the collection, an important focus has been Dutch 17th century landscapes and genre scenes. Dr Meakins and his wife were delighted to learn that this carefully developed collection drew the interest of the NGC, culminating in the upcoming exhibition July-November 2021
