Dear members,
We require you to participate in an additional Members Special Meeting.
While we appreciate that the overwhelming majority have made your wishes clear, Council and the executive want to be absolutely transparent throughout this process.
When we held our last Special Member meeting on April 23rd, we included, as a specific motion, the project budget, which was voted on and passed at 76 for, 3 against and 4 abstentions. Since then, while we have successfully negotiated our now signed offer to lease, and have been working on the minutia in the lease and working with the designer, and selected our General contractor. We have received finalized budget numbers, updated from the initial for the great variables: materials and labour.
The updated pricing is significantly higher (75%) than what the membership passed by resolution on April 23rd at the members special General meeting. While the Landlord's contribution to the cost of the work has also increased, there is still an important discrepancy. This discrepancy is explained by cost of lumber, gyprock, etc., as well as the cost of labour.
We are therefore appealing to you to make yourselves available for an additional Members special general meeting to approve the updated budget.
This meeting will be held by Zoom on the 5th of July 2021 of June at 4PM
